NorthWood Basketball: Panthers Prowl In The Pit
NAPPANEE – NorthWood got a scare from South Bend Washington, but was able to hold onto a 57-50 win Wednesday night in girls hoops at The Pit.
The Black Swish led by a dozen at the half at 28-16, but the visiting Panthers woke up in the second half, scoring 19 points in the third quarter to get the lead to under 10 heading into the fourth. A bulk of Washington’s performance came from Diamond Adams, who scored 29 points in the game, 11 of which came in the fourth quarter.
NorthWood had four players in double figures on the scoreboard, with Taitlyn Trenshaw and Maddy Payne each scoring 12 points. Savannah Feenstra had 11 points and Kenzie Bergman ended with 10 points to aid the Panthers to a 14-7 overall mark heading into a weekend Northern Lakes Conference matchup Saturday at Goshen.
Washington (4-14) had Shikyia Williams and Timberlynn Thomas finish with eight points each.
The NorthWood JV held Washington to single digits in each quarter to roll to a 52-20 win. Emily Demitruk paced the home team with 14 points and Kira Robinson scored 12 more for the Black Swish, which improves to 15-4 overall.
