Warsaw Wrestling: Hatch Sets Record
GARRETT – It was a record-setting day for Warsaw’s Kyle Hatch on Saturday.
The WCHS star wrestler set a program record while going undefeated in the Garrett Invitational.
Hatch, a two-time State Finalist who will wrestler at Wabash College, set the program mark for most takedowns in a season in his final match of the tournament. Hatch, who was 4-0 on the day to continue his unbeaten season, recorded his 189th takedown to set the record.
Hatch claimed the individual title at 152 pounds with all four of his wins by puns.
Christian Taylor placed fourth at 138 for the Tigers with a 2-2 mark.
Dillon Estep was 3-2 to earn a sixth-place finish at 285 for coach Kris Hueber’s team.
Grayson Drudge posted a 2-2 mark at 185 for Warsaw. The trio of Jose Grimmett (132), Riley Hogenson (126) and Isaiah Owens (106) each went 1-2 for the Tigers.
Warsaw, which was without several wrestlers, finished in 12th place in the final team standings.
Warsaw will wrap up regular-season and conference action at Concord Wednesday night. The Tigers will then take part in the NLC Tournament next Saturday at Northridge.
