LCA Basketball: Cougars Top SB Trinity
WINONA LAKE – It was a career night for a trio of players in a big win for the Lakeland Christian Academy boys basketball team Saturday night.
The host Cougars rode a big start to down South Bend Trinity by a 67-40 final.
LCA led 12-5 after the first quarter and 31-12 at halftime en route to defeating Trinity for the second time this season. The Cougars, who snapped a five-game losing streak with the win, defeated Trinity 50-33 in a tournament in December.
Jake Harmon and Landon Twombly each scored a career-high 17 points to lead the offense for the winners. Harmon drained five treys in the victory and Twombly dished out five assists.
Braxton Keller also had a career best scoring night with eight points for the Cougars.
Josh McDaniel finished with 16 points for the hosts. Jeremy Gross had five points and four rebounds. Elijah Raymond led the winners on the glass with eight caroms.
LCA, now 5-8, hosts Granger Christian on Tuesday night. South Bend Trinity, which drops to 0-10, hosts Elkhart Christian Academy Tuesday evening.
