WRESTLING
The Wawasee grapplers traveled to Elkhart Memorial Thursday night and picked up a win in their Northern Lakes Conference finale. The Warriors downed the Charger 34-32 to finish out their dual season at 21-7 overall and 4-3 in the NLC.
Winning for the Warriors were Ricardo Romo (106 pounds), Garrett Stuckman (113), Germia Brooks (126), Jeremiah Ponsler (160), Damien Rodriguez (182), Luke Hensley (195) and Elisha Tipping (220).
The win marked the first for the Warriors over Memorial since 2001.
The Warriors will next compete at the NLC tournament at Northridge.
FRESHMAN BASKETBALL
Elkhart Christian Academy paid visit to Wawasee Thursday evening freshman boys basketball action. The Warriors picked up their seventh win of the season with a 41-19 victory.
Levi Brown led the Warriors with 12 points while Michael Hammer and Evan Dippon each scored eight foer the home team. Wawasee’s Gavynn Wolferman also tallied his first career points.
Wawasee (7-5) plays Saturday at Jimtown.
