Johnson Steps Down As Central Coach
ELKHART – The Elkhart Central football program will have a new man in charge come next fall.
Levon Johnson resigned on Monday after seven seasons in charge of the Blue Blazers.
Johnson went 22-52 during his tenure with one winning season at 6-5 in 2012. The Blue Blazers also won the school’s first sectional title in 2014 in a 5-7 campaign.
Central has had just five winning seasons since longtime coach Tom Kurth retired following the 2001 season.
Johnson, a former Central player and assistant coach, guided the Blue Blazers to a 2-8 mark this past fall. Central finished 2-3 in the North Division of the Northern Indiana Conference in 2016.
