Douglas D. ‘Doug’ Bowser Sr.
Douglas D. “Doug” Bowser Sr., 80, North Webster, passed away at 7:25 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Syracuse.
He was born April 19, 1936 in Pierceton to George Deverl and Evelyn L. (Lewellan) Bowser.
He lived most of his life in the North Webster area and graduated in 1954 from North Webster High School. On Sept. 25, 1954 in Decatur he married Frances A. “Fran” Likens who survives. He retired in 1999 from Metcalf, Payne, & Bell as a plumbing and heating service man after 37 and a half years, was a former real estate broker in Syracuse and North Webster, managed properties in the North Webster area and was the owner/operator of Bowser U-Lock Storage Units.
He was an active member of the North Webster Church of God, where he served on the Board of Trustees, was a Sunday School teacher and attended Men’s Prayer Breakfast faithfully for many years. He was a member of the Lakeland Kiwanis in North Webster, where he formerly served as president, and S.P.E.C. (Senior Primelife Enrichment Center) Board of Directors. He formerly served on the North Webster Fire Dept., coached little league baseball in North Webster, and was in a bowling league in Syracuse.
He is survived by his wife, Fran Bowser; two daughters: Bobi (David) Doll, Milford; Barb (Ken) Brauer, St. Petersburg, Fla.; three sons: Douglas Bowser Jr., Syracuse; Mark Bowser, North Webster; Bart (Liz) Bowser, Midland, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Ann (Gerald) Oswalt, Warsaw; two brothers: Terry (Patricia) Bowser, Warsaw; Roger (Mary) Bowser, Indianapolis.
He was preceded by his parents and two grandsons, Andrew Bowser and Charles Preston Towriss.
Visitation will be from 2–8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12 at Owen Family Funeral Home, St. Rd 13 & CR 500N, North Webster. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 13 at the Church of God, 301 N. Main St., North Webster with Pastor Jeff Boyer officiating. Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw, IN. Private family burial will be in Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery at a later date.
