Edward J. Minarik
Edward J. Minarik, 94, North Liberty, died at 9:45 a.m. Jan. 7, 2017 at 9:45 a.m. at Life Care Center, Rochester, where he had been in declining health for the past couple of months.
He was born Oct. 1, 1922 in San Pierre to Frank J. Minarik and Stephanie (Kajer) Minarik. He has lived in the North Liberty Community for the past 40 years, after living in Mishawaka.
Edward was a farmer and worked at Uniroyal/Ball Band Manufacturing in Mishawaka where he retired in 1986.
Edward was Veteran of WWII in the United States Army serving in the 3rd Battalion 318th Infantry from Dec. 26, 1942 and on Jan. 7, 1946 he received his Honorable Discharge. During his service he earned two Bronze Stars. He was a member of the American Legion Post #36, Rochester; Lifetime Member of the V.F.W. Mishawaka Post 360, Mishawaka. He was a member of the Gourd Club.
Edward is survived by his sisters: Louise Moore, of Lakeville; and Ella Lockwood of Rochester; a brother, Frank Minarik of Rochester; and many nieces and nephews; a sister-in-Law, Dolly Minarik of Kewanna, also survives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: George Minarik, Joseph Minarik, and Steve Minarik; Sisters: Evelyn Bascom and Barbara Baran.
Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11 at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12 at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos, with Rev. Bruce Russell. Burial will follow at the Richland Center Cemetery, Rochester, with the United States Army Honor Guard and the Fulton County Veterans Honor Guard, Rochester.
