Warsaw Community Public Library Offers Craft Classes In January
By Laurie Voss Circulation Supervisor
WARSAW — Are you a “crafty” person? If so, the Warsaw Community Public Library is the place for you. Not only does the have books on a myriad of craft ideas, they hold a lot of classes and excel in teaching you new hobbies.
I have several hobbies. I love to work on genealogy, using Ancestry.com to build family trees. I also like to crochet. This past Christmas I made a shark blanket, nine circular vests, four hats, and 22 rag-rug trivets. I am now working on chemo hats and hats for preemies to donate to hospitals.
I also like writing, self-publishing two books in the last few years, and one more in the making. I love nothing more than perusing the newspapers on microfilm, and finding interesting articles.
WCPL also promotes various craft classes, where the library can assist or teach you a new hobby. Some upcoming events include:
Jan. 9, is the Cookbook Club, which meets monthly. This month, bring a one-dish meal and some favorite recipes to share. Also on Jan. 9, is the knit and purl club, which meets monthly to knit and chat.
Jan. 11, is make it and take it crafts, making fleece snowmen.
Jan. 14, is the Lake City Piecemakers Quilt Club.
Jan. 17, is hooked on crochet, which also meets monthly to work on crochet projects.
Jan. 24, is a creative canvas class. The class is full, but if enough people are on the wait list, another class will be added. The library offers painting classes monthly, but preregistration is required.
Jan. 30, is the monthly card making class, offered by staff member Faith Ketterer. Some classes require registration, so just call us, and the library will get you signed up.
Start the New Year with a new hobby, or stop in for new ideas with your current hobbies. The library also looks forward to assisting you, and would love to see your projects.
