NAPPANEE — The following events will take place at the Nappanee Public Library:
American Girls Book Club
Enter the world of the American Girls as the book club reads each of their journey books and has some fun with history. From 6:30-7:30 p.m. Jan. 24, they will be discussing the book, “A Brighter Tomorrow: My Journey with Julie,” and learning about fashion in the 1970s. Adventure Club At The Nappanee Public Library
The Adventure Club is back for another meeting from 4-5 p.m. Jan. 26, at the Nappanee Library. Tweens will learn about famous scientists throughout history, and perform experiments. Registration is required by Jan. 19. For more information, call (574) 773-7919, or go here.
New Book Club For Adults Focuses On Science
Introducing a new four-part reading, viewing, and discussion series for adults, which is part of a national initiative funded by the National Science Foundation. This series brings together books and videos featuring authors, scientists and everyday people who thrive on exploring the natural world.
Nappanee Library is one of the rural public libraries nationwide hosting the series. The program has been developed by a team of library professionals, scientists, and filmmakers, whose organizations include Dartmouth College, the Association for Rural and Small Libraries, the Califa Group (a California-based library consortium), Dawson Media Group and Oregon State University.
In the first part, “Pushing the Limits of Survival,” join the library from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, for a discussion of the book “Arctic Drift,“ by Clive Cussler. The first 10 to sign up will receive a free copy of the book to keep. Come learn from other community members and join in on the thought-provoking and fun discussion about science, technology, engineering, and math that occur in our everyday lives. Refreshments will be provided.
