Triton Basketball: Trojans Pull Out Win
BOURBON – Triton boys basketball head coach Jason Groves mentioned after his team’s loss to Warsaw he hoped to start 2017 on a positive note. Mission accomplished.
Triton used a tremendous night from Zac Pitney, who scored 25 points with five rebounds, to get past John Glenn 39-35 Friday night in its first game back since the Dec. 21 loss to the Tigers.
Pitney was 8-13 from the floor, not missing a two-pointer on six attempts and hit 7-11 free throws.
Triton needed Pitney’s night, as the rest of the roster was 4-14 from the floor. Nate Flenar and Grant Johnson each added six points, Johnson chipping in seven rebounds and a pair of assists.
Matt Strong led Glenn (4-6) with 10 points and three rebounds.
Triton moves to 5-4 overall, winners of five of its last six games. Triton hosts West Central Saturday in a Hoosier North Athletic Conference matchup.
A low-scoring JV game had Glenn come out on top with a 26-21 victory over Triton. Evan Dreibelbis was the top man for Glenn with nine points while Delano Shumpert topped the Trojans with eight points.
