Oakwood Cemetery Considers Implementing New Storm Water Filtration System
WARSAW — The Oakwood Cemetery may be implementing a new filtration system in the coming year. During the Oakwood Cemetery Board meeting on Thursday, Jan. 5, Sexton Hal Heagy informed the board two individuals working with the city have been surveying the cemetery to determine whether a storm water filtration system should be implemented.
They are considering putting filters in the drains in the cemetery in order to prevent polluted storm water running off into Pike Lake. There are currently no pressing issues warranting putting in the filters in immediately, however, the filtration system would help prevent polluting the lake.
Heagy indicated he was unsure how much the cost of the system would be, but he will be checking costs for the system in for the coming year.
During the month of December, the Oakwood Cemetery was able to give away 10 loads of wood to Combined Community Services. During the winter months, Oakwood employees split wood and give it to CCS for them to give to individuals who need wood for fires heat in the winter.
