Oakwood Resort Host Site For Boomerang Backpacks Polar Plunge
SYRACUSE — Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence winner, Oakwood Resort, announces its beach area will serve as the host site for the Boomerang Backpacks Polar Plunge fundraiser. The Polar Plunge will take place Saturday, Jan. 28, with registration opening at 3 p.m. and the plunge beginning at 3:30 p.m. This is one of many events for this years Wawasee Winter Carnival.
The mission of Boomerang Backpacks is to nourish low-income elementary school students on weekends by providing backpacks full of food and inspire high school students to experience community service through project-based learning.
Priced at $25 per individual or $100 for a team of four participants, prizes will be awarded for best team costume, most team pledges, best individual costume and most individual pledges. The proceeds from the event will go toward funding the Boomerang Backpacks mission for Wawasee Community Schools.
Those interested in “Freezin’ for a Reason” may pick up registration forms anytime at the Oakwood Resort front desk or Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce during regular business hours. A local Girl Scout Troop will be offering hot cocoa and s’mores kits for sale beginning at 2 p.m. prior to the Polar Plunge, for participants and spectators.
