John Lewis DePue
John Lewis DePue, 87 of Westview Court, Argos, died at 8:25 p.m., Jan. 3, 2017 at the South Bend Hospice House, South Bend where he had been in declining health.
He was born Nov. 26 1929 in Miami County near Macy to Lyle and Cleo (Mathias) DePue.
He has lived in the Argos Community most of his life.
On Aug. 12, 1950 in Tiosa, at the Tiosa Brethren Church, he married Rosemary E. Scott and together they have shared the past 66 years.
John was a Building Contractor and for over 25 years he and his partner Roy Tracy owned and operated Tracy and DePue Construction. He attended the Walnut Church of the Brethren, Argos. John was a graduate of Argos High School with the class of 1948.
John is survived by his wife, Rosemary; his daughters: Rose Anna VanHorn (Jon), Culver; Paula Arvesen, Bremen; five grandchildren: Brandon VanHorn (Emily) Monterey; Stacy Bennitt (Tony) LaPorte; Patrick Arvesen (Samantha), Mishawaka; ten great grandchildren; a sister: Lena Tomforde, Boca Raton, Fla.; a brother, Lawrence DePue (Jean) Buchanan, Mich.; his sister-in-laws: Karla DePue, Winamac; Marietta Scott, Rochester; and a brother-in-law: Jim Swihart, Rochester.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Lloyd DePue, is sisters, Mary Swihart and Marjorie Davis, a son-in-law, Mark Arvesen
Friends may visit with the family from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8 at Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at the Walnut Church of the Brethren Church, 5975 19th Rd., Argos with Rev. Robert E. Rice Jr of the Walnut Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow at the Reichter Cemetery, Talma.
