WARSAW — A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of two local residents after a K9 partner alerted officers to the presence of drugs.
On Dec. 28, an officer with the Warsaw Police Department pulled over a vehicle driven by Jared Yoder, 26, 2738 Pinewood Drive, Goshen, for not using his turn signal and having a loud exhaust. A K9 partner performed an exterior free air sniff of the vehicle and alerted officers to the presence of a narcotic in the vehicle.
Yoder was searched and officers discovered a plastic baggie containing methamphetamine. Officers then searched the vehicle. A Smith and Wesson 9mm semi-automatic handgun and a scale with methamphetamine residue were both located.
Yoder stated that he had just purchased the methamphetamine from Dylan Connor Davis, 21, 640 Deerfield Path, Warsaw.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, another officer recognized Davis, who was wanted on a warrant. The officer conducted a traffic stop. Davis was driving with a passenger and Davis’s minor daughter. The same K9 partner performed an exterior free air sniff of the vehicle and alerted officers to the presence of a narcotic in the vehicle.
Three cases of shotgun ammunition, three shotguns and a handgun were tucked into the driver’s door pocket with a loaded magazine. The passenger admitted to delivering narcotics, specifically heroin, for Davis.
A search warrant was obtained for the residence at Deerfield Path. Officers located 14.4 grams of heroin, 6.9 grams of meth, three digital scales, one ledger with names and prices and 1,000 rounds of ammunition. Also found were 10 pieces of straw with white powder residue and eight glass smoking devices.
Abigail Irene Cuban, 21, 640 Deerfield Path, Warsaw, the other resident of the home was not present during the search warrant and officers went to locate her.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, officers located Cuban slumped over the steering wheel of her vehicle at her parent’s house. When officers woke her up she appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic. Located in the vehicle was $453, 1.9 grams of heroin and less than a gram of methamphetamine. Cuban admitted to officers that she had been dealing methamphetamine.
