Charles W. Moses
Charles W. Moses, 83, passed away at 1:39 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
He was born July 22, 1933 in Kendallville to Robert C. and Ruth C. (Mahnesmith) Moses.
He graduated from Kendallville High School in 1951.
He married Carol A. Butterbaugh on Jan. 17, 1954.
Charles served as a veteran with the Army from 1953-1955, during the Korean War.
He worked as an executive with Boy Scouts of America for 10 years and as an insurance claims investigator and recovery supervisor for 20 years.
Charles is survived by his wife, Carol; a son, Andrew Charles (Darcy) Moses, Fort Wayne; two daughters, Wendy Caye Moses, Durham, NC and Paula Ruth (David) Merriman, Wabash; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert Moses and John Moses.
Charles was a member of the North Manchester United Methodist Church. He and his wife sang in the church choir for 62 years.
He was an avid fisherman and storyteller. He was a loving husband, dad and grandpa. He never knew a stranger.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12 at North Manchester United Methodist Church, 306 East 2nd Street, North Manchester. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 12 at the church. Pastor Mark Eastway will be officiating. The burial will be at Ulrey Memorial Cemetery in Silver Lake at a later date.
