North Webster Public Library News And Events
NORTH WEBSTER — Want to be a V-I-P? Come to North Webster Community Public Library 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, and learn how to become a volunteer-in-parks from Kevin and Linda McGonagle. The local couple spent last summer volunteering with the National Parks Service at Gulf Island National Seashore in Florida and will soon leave to serve at Pocosin National Wildlife Area in North Carolina.
The McGonagles will explain how the National Parks Service’s V-I-P program works and how to volunteer. They will also share photos of their experience. There are many different types of volunteer jobs available and places to serve. In most cases, living accommodations are provided. If you’re looking for a worthwhile volunteer opportunity, you will want to attend this informative program.
If you’re looking for an opportunity to create things, sign up for the make and take card Class 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 5 and learn how to create your own greeting cards. Jan Biehl teaches this monthly class the first Thursday each month. Advance registration is needed with a class fee due at the start of the class that covers card-making supplies. To attend, sign up at the circulation desk or call (574) 834-7122.
Registrations are currently being accepted in the Youth Services Department for Baby Lapsit for ages birth to 18 months and Toddler Time for ages 18 to 36 months. Parents and their babies or toddlers enjoy the fun of books and stories together and engage in meaningful play during each 30-minute session. Baby Lapsit will be held 11 a.m. every Friday in January, starting Jan. 6, while Toddler Time meets 11 a.m. on Tuesdays, beginning Jan. 10. Space is limited, so parents need to contact the youth services desk at (574) 834-7122 ext. or e-mail [email protected] to sign up.
Toys like to have fun, too. Have your child bring their stuffed animal or doll to the library for a Stuffed Animal Sleepover Friday-Saturday, Jan. 6-7. Arrive at 5 p.m. Friday for Evening Story Time, then leave your child’s toy friend overnight at the library. Return with your child the next morning between 10 a.m. and noon for juice and donuts and watch a slide show of the toys’ overnight adventure. You will be amazed at the mischief the toys get into!
There will be mischief going on at the North Webster Community Public Library’s annual January Bash 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12 when Main on Main Comedy Improv Troupe performs their antics. Save the date for an evening of good clean fun and loads of laughs.
The library will be closed Saturday, Dec. 31 through Monday, Jan. 2 for the New Year holiday. The library will re-open at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3.
