Whitko Basketball: Cumberland Hits Milestone As ‘Cats Split
GREENFIELD — Thursday was a very big day for Whitko’s Brianna Cumberland at the Greenfield-Central Tournament. The senior guard scored 33 points total in the two games her team played to put her at 1,011 career points. Cumberland currently sits at second on the program’s all-time scoring list behind current Whitko player Aly Reiff.
Cumberland led the team in scoring in both of Thursday’s games. The first, a 67-61 defeat at the hands of Gary West Side, saw the talented senior drop 17 points. Reiff added 16 while Hannah Yohe scored 11.
In the team’s second game Cumberland scored a game-high 16 points. The contest, a 45-29 win over Richmond, saw the ‘Cats hit 12 of 16 free throws and a trio of threes. Cumberland was the only Wildcat player in double figures. Ellie Snep and Brielle Harrison each scored seven points for Whitko.
Whitko (12-2) will play Friday at 2:30 in the 5th place game against Westfield (6-8). The Wildcats finished 7th at last year’s tournament.
