Valley Wrestling: Bandow Leads Vikings At McKee
ROCHESTER – Devin Bandow had a great day at the John McKee Memorial Invite Friday afternoon at Rochester, placing third in the 120-pound class to lead Tippecanoe Valley’s output in the wrestling tournament.
Bandow started his day with a 26-second pin of Lafayette Jeff’s Clay Risner then pinning St. Joe’s Vincent Frucci in 57 seconds. Zane DeVault of Plymouth, who would win the weight class, handed Bandow his only loss after a pin with 33 seconds left in the first period. Bandow would claim a forfeit in the third-place match from Maconaquah’s Fletcher Williams to leave the Valley junior 3-1 on the day.
Valley had two other wrestlers place in the tournament. Jordan Humes at 152 was sixth overall, gathering a major decision and two falls in going 3-2 overall. Dylan Warner at 170 was seventh, also going 3-2 but losing in the first round, Warner had to rally with a forfeit and a fall before splitting his final two matches.
Isaac Randall at 160 earned a fall in going 1-2 in his day. Haley Hoover at 106, Jordan Owens at 138 and Chevy Teeter at 145 all were 1-2 with forfeits signaling those individual wins. Joseph Irons was 0-2 in the 182 bracket.
Lafayette Jeff won the McKee title with 215 team points, topping Plymouth’s 203 and Fairfield’s 167. Manchester was fifth at 121, West Noble was 13th at 76.5, Valley was 14th at 53, Culver was 15th at 52.5 and Bremen was 16th at 50 among the 17 teams in the tournament.
