WARSAW – The game won’t be played in the historic Hoosier Gym, but the game could be somewhat historic in its own right.
The snowed out girls basketball game from Dec. 17 between Warsaw and Wawasee will be played on Thursday, Jan. 19, in both the JV and Varsity games. Start time for the two games at the Tiger Den in Warsaw will be 6:15 p.m. for the JV with the varsity to follow.
The original date was to have been played at Hoosier Gym in Knightstown, part of a series of matchups put on to feature some of the historic programs in the state. Wawasee and Warsaw was to be one of five games played at Hoosier Gym on the 17th, one of three dates in the series with upcoming matchups in January and February.
The Northern Lakes Conference game now sits near the tail end of the conference calendar, with Warsaw currently unbeaten in NLC play. Warsaw plays at Concord on Jan. 21 and then faces NorthWood in its final NLC game on Jan. 26 in Nappanee. Wawasee will end with NLC games at Plymouth on Jan. 21 and at home versus Concord on Jan. 26.
Warsaw, which is 10-1 overall and 1-0 in NLC play, will visit Triton this evening while Wawasee (5-7, 1-1) will play Dec. 31 at the Norwell Classic against Norwell and Indianapolis Brebeuf.
