Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
12:19 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, West US 30, Warsaw. Driver: Alize L. Smith, 20, West 75th Avenue, Merrillville. Smith was westbound on US 30 when she lost control of her vehicle on the ice. A vehicle was parked on the side of the road with it’s emergency lights on as the driver was helping another vehicle that had slid off the road. Smith struck the parked vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
8:25 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, East US 30, Warsaw. Driver: Darci L. Denton, 55, South CR 650W, Columbia City. Denton was west bound when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into the median. Damage up to $2,500.
11:37 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, East Hatchery Road, Syracuse. Drivers: Josie L. Daniels, 30, North Koher Road, Syracuse, and Andrew J. Loetz, 49, East Holmes Court, Cromwell. Daniels lost control of her vehicle due to slush and crossed the center of the roadway and collided with the front eft corner of Loetz’s vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
3:37 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, West Old Road 30, Etna Green. Driver: Gregory A. Burns, 41, West CR 300N, Etna Green. Burns lost control of his vehicle due to slush, slid off the roadway and struck a tree. Damage up to $2,500.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
3:27 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, North Detroit Street, Warsaw. Driver: Lindsay N. Williams, 25, Westcreek Drive, Warsaw. Williams lost control of her vehicle and collided with a highway traffic sign. Damage up to $5,000.
4:04 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, Lake City Highway and Commerce Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Luis F. Juarez Lopez, 19, East Jefferson Street, Warsaw, and Gerry L. Green, 74, Scott Canyon Lane, Castle Rock, Colo. Lopez was unable to stop due to ice road conditions causing him to rear-end Green. Damage up to $2,500.
5:40 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, East Fort Wayne St., Warsaw. Driver: Charles L. Hively, 59, Lyon Street, Warsaw. Hively was in the left turn lane to go north on Detroit when a white Buick invaded his lane. The front of the Buick hit Hively’s vehicle. The impact from the collision caused Hively to go off the road. The Buick fled the scene. Damage up to $2,500.
6:47 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, East Center Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Bryan E. Sipple, 22, Westside Drive, Warsaw, and Alfonso A. Ochoa Martinez, 43, East Center Street, Warsaw. Sipple rear-ended Martinez. Damage up to $10,000.
7:13 pm. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2501 Walton Boulevard, Warsaw. Driver: Bobby L. Burchett, 59, West Old Road 30, Warsaw. As Burchett was backing out of a handicap parking space, he failed to see a concrete post and collided with it. Damage up to $2,500.
12:34 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, 2864 Frontage Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Richard A. Courson, 45, Wexford Place, Warsaw, and Karli B. Himes, 26, Heide Lane, Milford. As Courson was backing out of a parking spot he collided with Himes. Damage up to $2,500.
Winona Lake
Officers with the Winona Lake Police Department investigated the following accident:
5:41 pm. Saturday, Dec. 17, South CR 250E, Winona Lake. Drivers: Melanie M. Zeiger, 30, East Island View Drive, Warsaw, and Jason E. Brandyberry, 34, Huffman Street, Winona Lake. As Zeiger was attempting to turn onto Liberty Drive, Brandyberry was unable to stop and collied with the left front corner of Zeiger’s vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
Elkhart
Elkhart County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated the following accident:
5:06 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, CR 42, west of CR 27, near Goshen. Driver: John Yoder 20, Etna Green. Injured: Kara Borkholder, 20, suffered a head injury and was later transferred to South Bend Memorial Hospital for further treatment; Jolene Miller, 21, lacerations to her face and complained of lower back and leg pain and Matthew Yoder, 21, lacerations to his forehead and complaint of head pain. Jolene Miller and Matthew Yoder were transported to Goshen Hospital. John Yoder was evaluated by medical personnel and released from the scene. John Yoder was attempting to pass a smaller passenger vehicle and failed to reduce the speed of his vehicle due to the snow covered roadway conditions and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle went off the roadway and hit a tree on the passenger side. Kara Borkholder and Jolene Miller were not wearing seat belts. The accident is still under investigation.
