Warsaw Swimming: Squads Top Plymouth
WARSAW – The Warsaw swim teams posted convincing wins Tuesday night over Northern Lakes Conference foe Plymouth.
The Warsaw boys team took firsts in 11 of the 12 events in topping the visiting Pilgrims by a 133.5-48.5 count.
The Warsaw girls team, not to be outdone, also won 11 events in posting a 127-58 victory.
The outstanding trio of Evan Borchers, Grant Knight and Nick Zogbi each won three individual events to pace the Tigers.
Borchers won the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:55.38 and took first in the 100 fly in 56.41. Knight took top honors in the 100 freestyle in 52.81 and topped the field in the 100 breaststroke event in 1:00.96. Zogbi won the 200 IM in 2:09.68 and was first in the 100 backstroke race in 58.91.
Alex Cook won the 50 freestyle in a top time of 23.73 and Hudson Snyder claimed a win in the 500 freestyle race in 5:13.97 for the hosts.
The Tigers also won all three relay events, taking first in the 200 medley in 1:44.66, the 200 freestyle in 1:37.28 and the 400 freestyle in 3:35.84.
The terrific twosome of Brenna Morgan and Lauren Kuhl each won a pair of events to pace the Warsaw ladies to their dominating win.
Morgan won the 50 freestyle in 24.69 and also captured the 100 freestyle in 54.75. Kuhl was first in the 500 freestyle in a top effort of 5:51.77 and also won the 100 backstroke in 1:08.97.
The ladies also got single wins from Laurel Moeller, Olivia Herman, Taylor Gunter and Delaney Wihebrink. Moeller won the 200 freestyle in 2:10.28, while Herman claimed first in the 200 IM in 2:37.09, Gunter won the 100 fly in 1:06.80 and Wihebrink won the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.92.
The Warsaw girls also claimed firsts in all three relay events, taking top honors in the 200 medley in 1:56.62, the 200 freestyle in 1:47.22 and the 400 freestyle in 4:05.39.
The Warsaw boys team improves to 6-1 overall and moves to 5-1 in league action. The girls are now 5-1 overall and 4-1 in NLC competition.
Warsaw will compete in the Zionsville Invitational on Saturday.
