Student Project Will Benefit Animal Shelter
WARSAW — Meghan Beer is passionate about wanting to help pets, especially dogs, and her Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy project will benefit the Animal Welfare League in Warsaw.
The junior at Wawasee High School is working on a project known as Claus for Paws that is in effect until Friday, Dec. 23.
She is placing donation boxes at Owens, Martin’s Supermarket, PetSmart, Shopko, NewMarket in North Webster and several local veterinarian clinics to collect items the animal shelter is in need of. Those items include dry and moist dog and cat food, blankets, fabric softener sheets, puppy collars, hand sanitizer, treats, toys, detergent, bleach, paper towels and leashes. Donations will be accepted until Dec. 23.
Beer will also be at Owens grocery, 2211 E. Center St., Warsaw, from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, to pass out fliers and talk to people.
“My goal is to collect as many toys as possible for these homeless animals,” she said. “We may all be in warm, loving homes this season, but some pets are not that fortunate.”
