James Leroy Kizer
James Leroy Kizer, 81, Indianapolis, passed away Dec. 8, 2016 at Rosewalk Village Nursing Home in Indianapolis.
James was born Aug. 26, 1935 in Mishawaka, to Paul and Katherine (Longfellow) Kizer. After graduating from Milford High School, James went on to honorably serve his country in the US Marines. He married Patricia Heaton on June 19, 1960 in Leesburg; she preceded him in death in 2004. He later married Dorothy Kizer on April 26, 2008; she survives. James enjoyed camping and was a 50 year Free Mason.
James is survived by his wife, Dorothy Kizer, Indianapolis; two daughters, Julie (Bob) Sigalow, Greenwood; and Jennifer Witty, Greenwood; a son, James P. Kizer, Greenwood; three grandchildren, Grant, Marshall, and Michelle; two sisters, Rita (Bob) Shiere of Dunedin, Fla.; and Lois Scott, Warsaw; and a brother, Jan Kizer of California.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia and his parents.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16 at Leesburg United Methodist Church, 111 W Prairie St, Leesburg. Pastor Rob Seewald will officiate the service and burial will follow in the Leesburg Cemetery with military honors.
Friends and family may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13 at Simplicity Funeral Home, 7520 Madison Ave, Indianapolis, and for one hour prior to the funeral on Friday at Leesburg United Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund.
