Dean L. Troup
Dean L. Troup, 90, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 at Fairview Nursing Home in Centreville, Mich.
He was born July 28, 1926 to Alton and Dessie (Klingaman) Troup in Nappanee. After graduating from high school, Dean joined the US Army and honorably served during WWII. He was stationed in Germany, where he met his wife, Ida Funk. They married on Oct. 7, 1948 and then moved to Milford in December of 1948. Although they were both lifetime residents, Dean and Ida loved to visit Germany and travel the US.
Dean worked as a supervisor for NIA Manufacturing for several years. He enjoyed being active in the community and was very civic minded. He was a Scout Master for five years, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, and served on the Milford Parks Board. Dean was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Syracuse and a lifetime member of the American Legion in Milford.
Dean is survived by his brother, Evar (Mary Ellen) Troup, Milford; and a sister, Shelly Troup of California.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ida Troup; his parents, and two brothers, Keith Troup and Irvin Troup.
A funeral service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16 at Mishler Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Milford. Pastor Wendy Piano will officiate with burial following at Milford Cemetery. Friends and family may call two hours prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
