Scott L. Wasilewski
Scott L. Wasilewski, 69, Columbia City, died at 1:22 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor where he had been a resident since March 2015.
He was born Oct. 11, 1947 in Havannah, Ill., a son of James Seth and Beverly (Pottorf) Wasilewski. His formative years were spent in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High School.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
On Dec. 19, 1970 he was united in marriage to Willie A. Kniss. They made their home in Columbia City, Mason City and then Long Beach, Calif. for over 12 years before returning to Columbia City in 1988.
Throughout his lifetime, he was a builder, mechanic and driver of Sprint race cars. He was a heavy equipment operater, enjoyed fishing, hunting, working with youth, coaching baseball and umpiring. Additionally, he was a dog lover.
His memberships included the Elks in California.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Willie; a daughter, Jamie C. Wasilewski, Columbia City; his father, James Wasilewski, Rockford, Ill.; and a brother, Stewart Wasilewski, Rockford Ill.
His mother preceded him in death.
The memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. The burial will take place at a later date at South Park Annex Cemetery.
