Lincoln Elementary hosts “Pow Wow”
WARSAW — A class of third and fourth graders at Lincoln Elementary was given the opportunity to show their parents what they’ve been learning during the school year about native American culture at a “Pow Wow” hosted at the school.
On Friday, Dec. 9, parents were invited to Lincoln Elementary to see what their kids been learning about native Americans by watching the kids perform plays they had written about the Indians. Throughout the school year, students have been learning about what native Americans ate, how they dressed and what they did on a daily basis.
The kids’ teacher Jane Zellers said the kids had been preparing for the Pow Wow for the last several weeks.
Students had been divided into groups and had to write and perform their presentations highlighting the daily life of different Indian tribes, ceremonies, family life, clothing and other interesting facts about the tribe.
In addition to the presentations, the students also created posters with facts about different native American tribes and made a model of what their village would have looked like.
