Elizabeth E. ‘Betty’ Cone
Elizabeth E. “Betty” Cone, 96, Pierceton, passed away at 10 a.m. Dec. 5, 2016 in Miller’s Merry Manor at Oak Pointe, Columbia City.
On March 22, 1920, she was born in Nappanee, to Frank and Veva (Goshorn) Hamsher. She was united in marriage to Charles Cone on Dec. 30, 1943 in New Paris, who preceded her in death June 24, 1997.
Betty came to the Pierceton area in 1946. She worked for Whitley Products for seventeen years, retiring in 1985. She also worked as a mending seamstress for many years. She was a member of Pierceton Presbyterian Church.
Betty is survived by three sons: Dana (and spouse Kathy) Cone, Syracuse; Kent Cone and his companion Deana Holbrook, Pierceton; and Todd Cone, Pierceton; one daughter-in-law, Cinda Cone, Alexandria; 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Garth Cone; her daughter, Carla Cone Freel; her grandson, Evan Freel; and five brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, in Pierceton Presbyterian Church, Pierceton with Lou Collier officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
Visitation hours will be from 4–7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9 at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Pierceton and also from 10– 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
