Owen E. Fluckey — UPDATED
Owen Eugene Fluckey, 90, Argos, died at 2:20 a.m. Dec. 3, 2016 at the Elkhart Hospice House, Elkhart, where he had been in declining health since the middle of March.
He was born April 25, 1926 in Lakeville to Clella D. Fluckey and Anna E. (Goheen) Fluckey.
He has lived in the Argos Community since 2001, after living in Plymouth-Myers Lake area for 31 years.
On April 3, 1948 in Burr Oak,he married Bertha M. Schrimsher and together they have shared the past 68 years. Owen was an auto mechanic and he worked for Del-Monte in Plymouth for 24 years as a maintenance supervisor. Owen was a graduate of the Aubbeenaubbee High School, Leiter’s Ford, with the class of 1944. He then joined the United States Navy during WWII from 1944 to 1946. After being discharged from the United States Navy he joined the United States Army Reserve from 1946 to 1954. He was a member of the Walnut Church of the Brethren, Argos; James Lowell Corey American Legion Post #68, Argos; and the Finney-Shilling VFW Post #6919, Culver.
Owen is survived by his wife, Bertha Fluckey, Argos; daughter, Brenda L. Hutchison and husband Jim, Argos; grandchildren: Aaron J. Hutchison and wife Jennifer, Argos; Shannon M. Hanselman and husband Rusty, Argos; and five great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Delores Fluckey.
Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 6 at Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7 at the Walnut Church of the Brethren, 19056 Gumwood Rd., Argos with Rev. Robert E. Rice Jr. of the Walnut Church of the Brethren. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery Argos with the United States Navy Honor Guard and the James Lowell Corey American Legion Post #68 Honor Guard conducting Military Honors.
