BBBS Raises $42,000 for Kosciusko Mentoring Program at the 3rd Annual BIG Celebration
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY —Big Brothers Big Sisters hosted the 3rd Annual BIG Celebration on Thursday, Nov. 10 at the Winona Heritage Room in Warsaw. Guests enjoyed an evening of fun, including a reception and silent auction, plated dinner, announcement of the 2016 Charles D. Smith Award Recipient and a Fashion Show featuring Big Brother and Big Sister volunteers and their Little Brothers and Little Sisters.
More than 275 people attended the fundraiser showing their support for the organization and raised $42,000. All funds raised will benefit the organization and its mission to help local children reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one mentor relationships. Specifically allowing the organization to maintain current matches and provide for additional Big and Little matches to be made within the Kosciusko County community.
The evening culminated with an inspirational story about Big Couple KT and Anita and their Little Brother Skylar. It was Skylar’s mother, Heather who addressed the crowd and shared her appreciation for KT, Anita and the Big Brothers Big Sisters programs. From a mother’s perspective, she expressed the urgent need for more supporters and volunteers for the many children and families in the area who would also benefit from the free services offered.
