LCA Basketball: Cougars Edge Hamilton
WINONA LAKE – The Lakeland Christian boys basketball team made a little bit of history Saturday.
A strong start paved the way for the Cougars to defeat Hamilton for the first-time ever.
The host Cougars posted a 36-34 decision to claim their first win of the young season.
LCA, now 1-2, bolted to a 21-10 lead after the opening period in the contest. The hosts led 27-16 at halftime before Hamilton rallied to pull within 29-28 after the third quarter.
Josh McDaniel scored a game-high 14 points to lead the winners. Landon Twombly chipped in with 11 points for the Cougars. Noah Twombbly added four points and Jake Harmon had three points and three assists.
Jeremy Gross grabbed six rebounds and Elijah Raymond snared five for the Cougars.
Alford Lingo led Hamilton, now 0-3, with 10 points.
LCA hosts Benton Home School on Tuesday night. Hamilton will host Fremont next Saturday night.
