Wawasee Basketball: Eagles Escape Schmeltz, Warriors
SOUTH BEND — Aubrey Schmeltz had a strong game for the Wawasee girls basketball team Thursday night, but it simply was not enough. Schmeltz led her team with 16 points, tied for a game-high, but it was South Bend Adams that escaped with the win. The host Eagles downed Wawasee 44-36.
The rest of Wawasee’s scoring was scattered around. Hannah Haines and Kabrea Rostochak each scored five points for the visitors. Adams was led by Tendai Madondo’s 16 points. Samantha Jankowski added another 10 for the Eagles.
Wawasee (3-6) travels to play Northridge Tuesday night.
Wawasee’s JV continued its hot start to the season with a 39-27 win over Adams. Sara Pritchard led Wawasee with 12 points while Caitlin Wortinger added eight points and eight rebounds. Wawasee’s JV is now 7-0 on the season.
