Cromwell Man Dies In Crash
ELKHART COUNTY — David Teel, 54, Cromwell, was pronounced deceased at the scene of a one-vehicle accident this morning, Monday, Nov. 28. The accident was reported at 9:55 a.m. on CR 43, north of CR 46, south of Millersburg.
Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department Crash Investigation team is investigating.
Deputies with the sheriff’s department reported Teel was traveling north on CR 43 in his 2006 GMC Sierra, north of CR 46, when he failed to negotiate a curve to the northeast. His truck went straight through some trees and down over a creek, colliding with a tree. The vehicle came to a final resting spot on its left side against the tree.
Initial reports indicated the truck was partially submerged in approximately 6 feet of water. Police are investigating the truck may have been laying in the water overnight, as the location is in a rural area and not easily visible from the roadway.
Firefighters from Benton Township, Clinton Township and Turkey Creek Fire Territory Paramedics responded to the scene. A firefighter was treated for hypothermia at the scene.
