North Webster Library News and Events
NORTH WEBSTER — Do you have unpaid library fines? Next week is your opportunity to pay off those fines while helping out the North Webster Food Pantry. During the week of Dec. 5-10, North Webster Community Public Library will take $1 off of your unpaid library fine for every non-perishable food item you bring in. The food will then be donated to the North Webster Food Pantry to help feed needy families in the community. The Food for Fines policy applies only for North Webster Library card holders for materials borrowed from North Webster Library and does not count toward lost, damaged or unreturned items. Expired foods, dented cans or damaged packages cannot be accepted.
If you love genealogy, come to the library to share your passion and knowledge. The library’s Local History and Genealogy Center will host an All Day Genealogy session on Monday, Dec. 5. Genealogists are encouraged to bring their laptops and share their genealogy website subscriptions and other resources with fellow genealogists. By sharing resources and research ideas, patrons might discover new information to add to their family histories. The center’s computers and free subscriptions will also be available along with its collection of historic records, family and local histories, and how-to books. Come for a while or stay the whole day.
Kids, ages five to 12, are invited to share their passion for Legos 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, when Lego Club meets in the Youth Services Department. Legos are provided for the kids to build whatever their imaginations conjure up. Parents are encouraged to join in, too. It’s a great way to spend quality time with your child while having fun together. Children under age nine must be accompanied by an adult.
More creativity takes place every Tuesday at 4 p.m. during Crafts and Stories when kids do crafts while listening to stories. For grades kindergarten through fifth grade, Crafts and Stories will continue to meet throughout December including during Christmas break.
Mark your calendars for Monday, Dec. 12, for the North Webster Library’s all day Indiana Birthday Bash celebrating 200 years of statehood. There will be fun activities throughout the day including giveaways, refreshments, contests and entertainment. For a schedule of events, pick up a copy of the library’s “Check It Out” newsletter or visit the website or Facebook page.
