Whitko Basketball: Reiff’s Monster Week Equals POW
INDIANAPOLIS – Aly Reiff is now being noticed for performing as one of the top basketball players in Indiana. The senior stud’s incredible week for the top-ranked Whitko Wildcat girls basketball team was noticed by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association, generating a Subway Player of the Week honor.
Reiff, whose Wildcats are No. 1 in the Class 2-A poll for the first time in school history, scored 27 points to go with a school-record 15 assists and seven rebounds to lead Whitko to a 60-point blowout of Peru. The Xavier University recruit then filed another school record under her belt with 43 points plus 10 rebounds, four assists and four steals in a 66-60 win over Huntington North. In the two games, Reiff was 24-38 from the floor, 9-11 from the free throw line and hit an eye-popping 13-20 from three-point range.
Whitko is currently 6-0 to start the season and is eyeing a showdown Friday night at home against currently undefeated Warsaw, which is 4-0 with a game Tuesday night at Penn.
Reiff shared the District 1 award this week with Westville’s Mary Parkman, who set a school record with 41 points in a win against Gary Roosevelt. For the week, Parkman had 63 points in two games, and scored her 1,000th point during the Roosevelt win.
