Wawasee Basketball: Hot Start Lifts Lady Warriors
LaGRANGE – Wawasee took a double-digit lead at Prairie Heights and stepped on the gas in the second half of a 57-24 girls basketball win Saturday night.
After taking a 26-15 lead into the lockerroom at the half, Wawasee held Heights to just nine points in the second half to pull away for its second win of the season.
Wawasee got point production from nine of its players, led by 12 points from Kabrea Rostochak, who had nine of those in the first half. Hannah Haines added nine points and Casey Schroeder and Aubrey Kuhn each chipped in seven points. Wawasee was quality from the free throw line, going 13-15 from the stripe.
Amy German and Shelby Fish each had seven points for Heights, which falls to 3-3 on the season with the loss. The Panthers managed just two field goals in the second half.
Wawasee moved to 5-0 in the JV ranks with a 34-20 win over Prairie Heights. Hannah Lancaster and McKenzie Smith each tallied seven points in the victory.
Wawasee (2-3) will next play Saturday in the Triton tournament against the host Trojans and either Leo or Lebanon in the second round of the tournament.
