Warsaw Swim: Ladies Win Goshen Relays Title
GOSHEN – The Warsaw girls swim team opened its season with a championship Saturday.
The Tigers won four events en route to claiming the team title of the seven-team field in the Goshen Relays.
Warsaw scored 132 points to easily outdistance runner-up Goshen, which finished with 104.
Standout Brenna Morgan was on a pair of winning relay performances for the Tigers. She teamed with Olivia Herman, Taylor Gunter and Delaney Wihebrink to win the 200 medley relay in a top time of 1:55.50. Morgan also teamed with Herman, Izzy Ray and Lauren Kuhl to hit the wall first in the 400 freestyle relay in a time of 4:08.48.
The team of Kuhl, Melissa Deming, Laurel Moeller and Dineli Prestegun won the 800 freestyle relay in a time of 9:32.70.
The quartet of Herman, Moeller, Wihebrink and Ella Knight captured top honors in the 200 freestyle relay event with a winning time of 1:53.47.
NorthWood won two events and finished in fifth place in the final team standings with 68 points.
The duo of Betsy Nunemaker and Sarah Eberle combined to win the diving competition for the Panthers with a score of 176.2.
The foursome of Megan Stankovich, Kate Jarvis, Elle Jansen and Haley Grove took first in the 400 medley relay race in a top time of 4:53.04 for NorthWood.
Mishawaka was third in the final team standings with 88 points with Angola fourth with 84. NorthWood was fifth, followed by Fort Wayne Canterbury in sixth place with 42 points and Mishawaka Marian in seventh with 34.
Warsaw will open Northern Lakes Conference action next Saturday with a girls/boys meet at Wawasee.
