Syracuse Public Library News and Events
SYRACUSE — The following events will take place at the Syracuse Public Library:
A Thankful Time
The Syracuse Library is making it easy to give to the food pantry this Thanksgiving season. The library is a place to drop off food when the Syracuse Food Pantry is closed. Until Dec. 22, the library is accepting nonperishable food and household items as payment for overdue fines from the Syracuse Library. Items are priced at one and two dollars. A guideline of accepted goods is available at the circulation desks.
The library is closing on Thanksgiving Day and Friday, Nov. 25. Regular business hours resume on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The library is not offering holiday crafts but encourages people to paint with a professional. Kosciusko Cares is offering a holiday craft that will make an awesome present for the hard to buy people on your list or just something neat to have for helping your community. Sign up at the Syracuse Library or through Kosciusko Cares to attend the mini watercolor painting at Tippy Creek Winery from 3-5 p.m. Dec. 4. The cost is $25 and needs to be received at the Kosciusko Cares Youth Services Bureau by Nov. 25.
The Syracuse Library is a coalition partner with this county-wide prevention organization. They offer evidence-based programs that are proven through research to help children, adolescents and families resist substance abuse participation. They also offer programs driven by teen and community input that are shown to increase social skills and self-esteem. The Indiana Next discussions indicate that people are concerned about drugs in the community and Kosciusko Cares offers positive prevention programs.
