Moran Transportation Corp. Expanding To Elkhart, Closing Warsaw Facility
ELKHART — A transportation company’s expansion into a busy Elkhart market could provide at least 15 new jobs.
Moran Transportation Corp., located in Elk Grove Village, Ill., has acquired a new terminal in the city at 28520 C.R. 20, currently a vacant facility. The company will employ between 35-40 employees and the terminal eventually will be a distribution point for over 30 semitrailers, according to Mike Moran, who operates media relations for the company.
“We are going to invest in the facility before we move in,” he said. “It will have the newest technology.”
The outfit currently operates in excess of 355 trucks within their seven-terminal network, including 22 natural gas straight trucks and one electric tractor. The new facilty will help the company better serve northern Indiana from South Bend through Elkhart County and on to Fort Wayne.
Moran would not say the cost of the purchase, though it said the move allows it to expand in an area that is currently its fastest growing market.
“This is a strategic move for us allowing us to continue to grow within that market while operating in a much more efficient manner within the northern Indiana area,” said Ciaran Finn, director of operations. “Our hope is to continue to grow and hire new staff within the Elkhart facility where we now have the ability to double or triple our size in that market.”
Moran said that they currently have 25 employees in Warsaw, that have been offered to make the move to the Elkhart facility. The Warsaw facility is slated to close.
The company is currently hiring and positions are available at morantransportation.com/careers.
