Evelyn D. Bottorff
Evelyn D. Bottorff, 87, a Marshall County resident all her life, and formerly of 7th Road, passed away in her daughter’s home early Friday, Nov. 11, 2016. Evelyn had been in declining health over the year and was diagnosed with dementia.
Born on July 12, 1929 in Donaldson, she was the son of Peter Kenneth and Hildur Elizabeth (Carlson) Trease. She graduated from West High School in 1948.
On July 5, 1958, Evelyn married Donald “Don” A. Bottorff; he preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 2003.
Evelyn retired in 1995 after forty-six years of service from REMC where she held various positions, such as the billing clerk, cashier and the bookkeeper.
She loved her family and grandchildren. The love of her life though was her faith; she was a member and heavily involved in the Blessed Hope Church where she was the organist for many years. She also was active in helping the children out at the church. She enjoyed playing Skip-Bo, listening to southern gospel music and going to the National Quartet Convention, as well as being a foster parent to five children.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter and son-in-law; Connie and Rev. Lonnie Nicholl of Plymouth, a foster daughter; Karen (Dan) Wiley of Georgia, a foster son; Ken Nelson of Texas. Also surviving are her loving four grandchildren; Jeremiah Nicholl, Joshua Nicholl, Rachel (Nathan) Schinckel, and Ruth (Jon) May.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister; Esther Overmyer, and a foster son; Joe Horon.
Visitation with the family and a celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held on Friday, Nove. 18, from 3-7 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth and one hour prior to services Saturday in the church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Blessed Hope Church, 2001 Lake Avenue, Plymouth, with Evelyn’s son-in-law the Rev. Lonnie Nicholl officiating.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, West Township.
