Edgar Grandville Wilcox — UPDATED
Edgar Grandville Wilcox, 94, Rochester, passed away at 10:26 a.m., Monday, Nov. 7, 2016 at Peabody Retirement Community of North Manchester.
On Jan. 1, 1922, Edgar was born in Tyner to Edward Bruce and Viola May Cudney Wilcox.
As a young man Edgar served as a rifleman with the US Army during WWII. He was honored with a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars.
Edgar married Juanita Stanton Sept. 13, 1947 in Rochester and shared 69 years of life’s adventures. Their union produced two beautiful daughters, Sharon and Connie. Two more generations have been added to the family tree with six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Edgar cherished the time spent with his family.
The Wilcox’s lived in Plymouth for over 50 years and then moved to Rochester in 2002. As a man of many talents he enjoyed carpentry and all aspects of building homes.
Edgar will be loving remembered by his wife, Juanita; two daughters: Sharon Pribbernow and husband Wayne, Baldwin, Mich.; and Connie Souther and husband David, Rochester; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Preceding Edgar in death are his parents.
Pastor Don Meyer will officiate services. Military rites will be conducted by the Fulton County Honor Guard and the US Army Honor Guard.
Interment will be in New Oak Hill Cemetery.
