Clayton Howard, 89, Silver Lake, died at 1:28 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016 in Mason Healthcare, Warsaw.
He was born July 28, 1927 in Gunlock, Ky. to Silas & Mona (Prater) Howard. On July 1, 1946 he married Elsie Neeley. Clayton retired from Woodcraft, Inc., North Manchester in 2001 after 15 years. He formerly was employed at Norfolk & Western Rail Road for 12 years and White Metal, Warsaw for 16 years. He was a member of Free United Baptist Church, Pierceton, IN. He was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Howard, Silver Lake; son, Dr. Michael D. (Sharon) Howard, LaPorte; brother, Forrest (Mary) Howard, North Manchester; sisters: Mabel Miller, Milford; Effie (Glen) Allen, Silver Lake; Geraldine Howard, Silver Lake; and Ilant (Chandler) Shepherd, Silver Lake; grandchildren, Jonathon Howard and David Howard; great grandchildren, Kei Howard and Riko Howard.
One daughter, Velma Howard, died in 1996 and one daughter, Wilma Howard, died in 2013; one brother, Silas Howard, is also deceased.
Family and friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11 at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11 at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester, IN. Pastor Ward Etsie Allen and Evangelist David Weller will officiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake, IN.
