Leasing Farm Land on Tight Margins
WARSAW — An educational program on Farm Land Leases: Leasing Land on a Tight Margin will be offered by Purdue Extension on Monday, Nov. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Kosciusko County Extension Office in Warsaw at 202 W. Main Street.
As crop cost per acre continues to outweigh the revenue per acre, farmers are finding themselves facing tight margins that may not allow them to continue to pay high land rent. Through this program, landowners and farmers will find out more about making long term cash rent decisions utilizing the long term cash rent spreadsheet/decision tool designed by the Purdue University Center for Commercial Agriculture.
This program will also cover:
- Highlights from the USDA 2014 Tenure, Ownership, and Transition of the Agricultural Land survey;
- Overview of Purdue Cash Rent Survey and how to use it decision making;
- Long term cash rent decision tool;
- Agronomic decisions farmers may make during tight margins;
- Communication for optimum landowner – tenant relationships;
- Tips on Legal aspects of a good lease.
There is no charge to attend this program, however to assist with handouts, please indicate by Nov. 23 how many will be attending by calling the Purdue Extension Office in Kosciusko County at (574) 372-2340 or emailing Kelly Heckaman at [email protected].
