Battle Of The Bands Raises Money For Local Cancer Care Fund
PIERCETON — Seven bands performed at the “Battle of the Bands For Cancer” event to raise money for the Kosciusko Cancer Care Fund on Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Old Train Depot in Pierceton.
The evening had a dynamic of playful competitiveness as each band tried to sway the crowd to vote for them to win the battle of the bands.
However, the evening held a larger purpose than simply winning, all the proceeds made from the event went towards the KCC fund, which goes directly to cancer patients in Kosciusko County.
The bands Terry and Gary, Brandon and John, Trainwreck, Midwest Tempo, the Crown Vic, Ricky the Rapper and the Army Within performed throughout the evening.
The bands played a wide variety of songs from different genres throughout the evening.
All of the funds from the cover charge and dinner were given to the KCC fund. Guests were able to vote for their favorite band by putting money in pitchers for the designated band. All proceeds from the event when to the fund.
Bob Sanders, who is on the KCCF board, says that the fund raises money to help cancer patients with, “Whatever you need to help you get through this disease.”
KCCF gives funds to needy cancer patients who may need help with costs that may not be related to medical bills but are still essential for individuals to pay such as mortgage payments, utilities bills or even something as simply as gas to and from appointments. Sanders explains that in addition to the medical costs, it’s other costs that add up that can make life even more difficult for those battling cancer.
