North Webster American Legion Post 253, Prepares To Honor Veterans

NORTH WEBSTER — The North Webster Legion Color Guard will honor all veterans at the following times and locations.

8:30 a.m. — Oswego Cemetery

9 a.m. — Oak Grove Cemetery

9:30 a.m. — Salem Cemetery

10 a.m. — Mock Cemetery

10:30 a.m. — North Webster Post 253

11 a.m. — North Webster Cemetery

The North Webster American Legion Post 253 would like to invite all Veterans and their families to attend any of the Veterans Day Ceremonies on Friday, Nov 11. The Legion will also be serving free ham and beans and corn bread to all Veterans starting at 11 a.m. at the Legion Post. Ham and beans and corn bread will be served until gone.

In the evening at the Post the kitchen will be open starting at 5 p.m. and will close at 7:45 p.m. Short Term Memories will entertain guest and members starting at 8 p.m.

Short Term Memories will also hold a Jam Session starting at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13 for a fund raising event to assist local service men and women both active and retired. The Ladies Auxiliary will be hosting an all you care to eat Pizza Buffet this same Sunday Starting at 11 a.m. and serving until at least 3 p.m.

If you have not visited the legion lately you should stop by and check it out. Do you know you can get supper on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings? They serve comfort food along with assorted sandwiches and sides depending on the night. Every other Saturday at lunch one-half pound hamburgers are grilled up by the SAL, watch for the one-half pound hamburger banner in front of the Legion the next one-half pound hamburger day will be from noon to 2 p.m. Nov 19.

All food is reasonably priced and as always the public is welcome to come and have dinner at the Legion Post at all times. Don’t want to eat at the post? Call in and get it to go.

Just a few other things that are happening at the Legion is Bingo every Thursday night with early bird starting at 6 p.m. On Friday, Nov. 18 Tiger Trivia will be at the post hosting a Trivia Contest. This is open to the public, so get your friends together and create a team to compete to win cash prizes. Come in for dinner and stay for Trivia that will start around 6:30 p.m.

When you stop by to visit the post be sure to ask about tickets for the Mossberg 500 Special Hunter 12 gauge pump shotgun. Drawing will take place on Thanksgiving Day. Speaking of Thanksgiving did you know you can come to the Legion for a free home cooked Traditional Thanksgiving dinner? The public is invited to enjoy this free dinner starting at noon, food will be served until 3 p.m. or gone. They ask that you bring non-perishable item to support the North Webster Food Pantry.
