Chamber of Commerce to Host Story of Indiana
WARSAW — In celebration of Indiana’s Bicentennial, the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce will host a public screening and discussion of Hoosiers: The Story of Indiana: The Next Indiana at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29.
The event is free and open to the public and will take place at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center (MOCC) at Grace College & Seminary, however, attendees must register online to attend by Nov. 18. Thank you to the sponsors for making the event possible: Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce, Kosciusko County Community Foundation, Grace College & Seminary, K21 Health Foundation, Kosciusko Leadership Academy, OrthoWorx and United Way – Kosciusko County.
The special episode, produced by WFYI Public Media and Indiana Humanities, captures the unique moment in 2016 as Hoosiers look back and celebrate our state’s rich history, as well as look forward and imagine Indiana’s future.
“The inspiring stories shared within the film are a valuable source of conversation for ourselves, our friends and our neighbors,” said Keira Amstutz, president and CEO of Indiana Humanities. “We believe discussion about the film will serve as a catalyst for further open-ended and thoughtful conversations about Indiana’s next 200 years.”
This event is part of a series of Indiana Humanities awarded discussions occurring between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31, 2016. Libraries, schools, community centers and other tax-exempt organizations across the state are encouraged to apply to host a public screening and discussion of the film to further conversations on the future of their community and state. Rob Parker, President & CEO of the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce says, “At the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce, we recognize and value the importance of celebrating the past and planning for our future. We look forward to the discussions and insights that will be gained through our Community Conversation 3.0 and will be active in helping to create action plans to fulfill our vision.”
Suzie Light, Executive Director for the Kosciusko County Community Foundation stated, “Community Conversation 3.0 is a good opportunity for you to listen, learn, and share ideas with others. Community Conversations 1 and 2 both generated ideas that found their way into planning at both county and city level. Improvements to Warsaw’s Market Street and those planned for Argonne Road are just one example. I wish I could tell the woman who brought up the Argonne Road idea, ‘look what you said has an impact!’ It’s good to hear from all areas of Kosciusko County.”
