NorthWood Basketball: Panthers No Problem At Riley
SOUTH BEND – NorthWood started its 2016-17 season with a bang Thursday night, pounding South Bend Riley 65-36 in girls basketball.
NorthWood wasted no time, doubling up Riley 14-7 in the first quarter and had built a 17-point lead by halftime. Savannah Feenstra paced the Panthers in the first half, scoring eight of her 12 points, six of those from the free throw line.
Taitlyn Trenshaw wound up leading NorthWood with 17 points, hitting three treys.
In all, eight players found the scoring column for NorthWood, with Neely Trenshaw and Kira Robinson both scoring eight points and Kenzie Bergman added seven points.
Asia Strong and Shania Byrd combined for 23 of the Wildcats scoring output.
Lexi Parisi hit four from deep and scored 19 points to lead the NorthWood JV to a 75-6 win at Riley. Robinson doubled up with 14 points and Madison Payne chipped in 16 points.
NorthWood (1-0) will host Penn Saturday afternoon.
