Ricky Lee Groves
Ricky Lee Groves passed away at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, 2016 in his Leesburg home. He was 53 at the time of his death.
He spent most of his life in the Warsaw and Leesburg areas and was the son of Leland Herbert “Lee” and Mary Ann (Birtwhistle) Groves. He was born in Warsaw Dec. 1, 1962.
Rick, as most knew him, was a graduate of Warsaw Community High School. He also graduated from Vincennes University where he earned his Associate’s in Radio Broadcasting.
On Nov. 15, 1993, he was married to Penny Hill in Leesburg. She survives in Leesburg.
Rick liked bicycle riding and reading science-fiction. He enjoyed playing video games, too. Most of all, he was a father who enjoyed time spent with his son.
Those who loved Rick and are heart-broken by his passing include his wife: Penny Groves of Leesburg; son: Collin Groves of Kokomo; brother: Randy Groves of Warsaw; mother and father-in-law: Richard and Anna Clay of Warsaw; three brothers-in-law: Steven Hill of Wheatfield; Jeff (wife, Diane) Clay of Warsaw; and James (wife, Nancy) Clay of Warsaw; and sister-in-law: Brenda (husband, Clark) Barefoot of Olathe, Kan. Also surviving are 13 nieces and nephews.
Rick’s parents, Mary Ann and Lee Groves, preceded him in death.
Friends may join family for a time of sharing and to celebrate Rick’s life from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3 in Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw.
Burial will take place in Leesburg Cemetery at a later date.
