Virginia ‘Ginny’ Leaf
Virginia “Ginny” Eilene Leaf, Warsaw, was surrounded by family when she went home to be with the Lord at 4:42 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2016 at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw at the age of 84.
She was a resident of Kosciusko County for the past 47 years where she was a member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church. Ginny worked as an apartment manager for ten years at Glen Terrace Apartments. She was elected into the Grace College Hall of Fame for sports in 2008. She and her husband enjoyed traveling with the Grace Basketball Team. Everyone knew how much of a great fan she was of the Grace Lancers. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker and enjoyed sewing. Ginny made most of her own clothes, as well as her daughter’s clothes for many years. Most of all she enjoyed her family, especially the grandchildren…watching the little ones grow and learn brought her great joy.
She was born on July 17, 1932 in Sterling, Ohio to Gertrude June (Kollert) Lance and Kenneth Norman Lance.
On Feb. 27, 1954 she was married to Dick Eldon Leaf, who survives in Warsaw.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Dick; her two daughters: Joy (husband Al) Hauck, Winona Lake; Jody Edwards, Winona Lake; seven grandchildren: Matthew (wife Sarah) Hauck; Nickalas (wife Jessica) Hauck; Calen Edwards; Chelsea (husband Andrew) Gregory; Trinity Moore; Savanna Moore; and Brooke (husband Michael) Zilinskas. Also surviving are six great grandchildren: Zachary, Maelle, Alaina, Matthew, Hailey and Ryan; sister: Alberta (husband Gary) Longworth, Grand Rapids, Mich.; brother: Dennis (wife Sandy) Lance, Barberton, Ohio; two sisters-in-law: Joanne and Sherry; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Raymond Lance.
Visitation will be held from 10-noon, Thursday, Oct. 27, at Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, 1200 Kings Highway, Winona Lake, Indiana. Her funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon on Thursday, Oct. 27 and officiated by Pastor Bruce Barlow. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
Arrangements are entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.
Memorial donations in Ginny’s memory may be directed to Grace College and Seminary, 200 Seminary Drive, Winona Lake, Indiana 46590 to go towards the Grace College Lancers Basketball Team and would be appreciated by the family.
