Warsaw Married Couple Arrested After Fight Over Girlfriend
WARSAW — A Warsaw couple has been arrested after engaging in a battery in front of a minor.
Maranda Gwen Evett, 27, 1822 Reider St., Warsaw, is being charged with count I domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a level 6 felony and count II domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.
Samantha Deanne Evett, 22, 602 N. Union St., Warsaw, is being charged with count I domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a level 6 felony, and count II domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Oct. 10, an officer responded to a domestic battery at 602 North Union St., Warsaw. The officer arrived and spoke with Maranda Evett who advised she had been arguing with her wife Samantha Evett. Maranda stated they had been arguing about Samantha’s girlfriend.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Maranda advised Samantha had asked her to come over to the couch and get closer to her. Samantha then kicked Maranda in the stomach and punched her in the mouth. Maranda then left the apartment and called the police. Officers observed cuts on Maranda’s upper and lower lips.
An officer also spoke with Samantha. Samantha advised Maranda had come over to the couch where she had ben sitting and whispered in her ear that she would kill Samantha’s girlfriend and her child. Maranda then grabbed her around the neck. Samantha advised she then pushed Maranda off of her. Samantha advised her girlfriend’s child was present when the battery occurred.
The officer spoke with Samantha’s girlfriend who advised she had observed Maranda place her hands around Samantha’s neck.
Maranda and Samantha were booked in the Kosciusko County on Oct. 21, with bonds of $6,000.
