NORTH WEBSTER — November is the month that the North Webster Community Public Library honors the nation’s veterans with its annual Military Program Series on Nov. 3 and 17.
At 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, U.S. Navy Veteran P.K. Smith will speak about his experiences during the Vietnam Conflict. Then on Nov. 17, Retired Chief Master Sergeant Jeff Spickelmier will share his military experiences serving in the U.S. Air Force. Both Smith and Spickelmier are active in the North Webster American Legion Post 253. Smith serves as the post’s chaplain and Spickelmier as past commander. The public is invited to come and hear these informative speakers.
The library is seeking information from its patrons on how to better serve them. Patrons are encouraged to fill out the library’s annual survey that is available at the front Circulation Desk as well as the Youth Services Desk. The survey is also available online and can be filled out on the library’s website. The library is also seeking patrons willing to participate in a focus group 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, and express their opinions, observations and aspirations concerning the North Webster Community Public Library. Light refreshments will be served. The purpose of the focus group is to help in developing a three-year strategic plan and long range goals. Those interested in serving on the focus group should contact Library Director Helen Leinbach at 574-834-7122 opt. 2.
Tickets are still available for the Murder Mystery Dinner 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5. Come to the reading of the late Lord and Lady Westing’s will and solve the mystery of their untimely deaths. Tickets cost $15 per adult player and include dinner, character assignment and clues. With a limited number of tickets available, don’t delay in purchasing your tickets from Adult Services Director Beth Smith.
Don’t delay in purchasing great bargains at the Friends of the Library Book Sale that runs Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 27-29, at the North Webster Community Center. Hundreds of good quality, gently used books by popular authors will be for sale as well as music CDs, movie DVDs and puzzles. Sale hours are 9 a.m.-5 p .m. Thursday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-12 noon Saturday. All proceeds go to support the work of the library.
